Happy Sunday friends! I hope you are enjoying the last Sunday of June.
End of the month for me means lots of reflection (if I do not reflect then time just feels like it flies by aimlessly) and idk I am someone who likes control which I know is not healthy so giving up control and finding the beauty in not having it is important, but also finding ways to anchor myself to feel more grounded helps, and so reflecting on the month and thinking about energy givers, energy drainers, and choosing how I want to move forward in the next month is something very grounding to me.
It also is a great way to remind myself of memories and beautiful moments that have happened in the month, cultivate gratitude and positivity heading forward. & if you do feel like journaling is hard starting with end of the month reflections is the easiest way to start! I also recently just got the book “The Untethered Soul” & the accompanying journal to start in this new month if anyone wants to join me in that practice. My mom said it is one of the books that has changed her life. So would love to do it with you all to keep each other accountable if you’re interested!
Either way…..I love to share some of my favorites from this month so here are my top 10 of June — Let’s get intooo ittt……
1. Organsied Nutrition Protein
This powder has become a staple in my daily routine because it contains everything: protein, collagen, colostrum, beef organs and naturally sweetened with raw honey. Sourced from 100% grass-fed, pasture raised cattle. It is like an all-in-one supplement. AND IT TASTES LIKE A MILKSHAKE when blended with milk. I genuinely don’t know how they do it but it makes for the perfect nutrient dense functional beverage. I am obsessed with it, it completely fuels my body. When I drink it I feel energized, clear-headed, satiated and peaceful.
How I use it:
Making an orange creamsicle protein adrenal tonic (recipe here)
Blended with milk in the morning when I’m not hungry for a full breakfast but want to nourish my body (& not have caffeine on an empty stomach)
Blended into my smoothies
Blended into my lattes if I want some extra nourishment & creaminess
Pre/post workout nourishment

2. Red Currant Scones
There is nothing like a good scone for breakfast dipped in a hot and creamy cup of coffee. Such a satisfying and mouthwatering bite. I just got red currants at the market (they are in season!) and they remind me of a mix between a cranberry, strawberry and cherry and they are just perfect in these scones.
Ingredients
2 cups einkorn flour
1/2 cup sugar
2.5 tsp baking powder
salt
10 tbsp cold or frozen butter
7 tbsp milk (1 tbsp less than 1/2 cup)
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp vanilla bean paste
1/2 cup red currants
heavy cream to brush on top
optional: add other fruit like strawberry, cherry
Recipe
Whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt
Cut butter into small cubes or grate frozen butter directly into dry mixture, use hands or pastry cutter to form crumbly dough, then cover and set aside in the fridge
In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, egg and vanilla, set aside
Separate currants from stems and set aside
Fold wet ingredients into dry until a cohesive dough forms (may be sticky)
Fold in currants and place dough back into fridge
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper
Flour a surface and add dough onto surface, forming one large even circle with preferred thickness of scones (remember they will rise — I like to make it about 1 inch thick)
Use a bench scraper or knife to cut into 8 even scones, and place on a parchment lined baking sheet
Lightly brush each scone with heavy cream
Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and set (I did about 22)
Let sit for at least 10 minutes or until completely cool, and enjoy!
*For storage — I prefer to freeze all of them together and then reheat in the oven
3. Natural Workout Wear
Something I have really been trying to prioritize lately is using natural fibers for workout wear. I feel like I prioritize natural fibers everywhere — towels, sheets, etc, except for when it comes to my workout fits because 99% of the workout wear I buy even if an expensive nice brand is made with polyester. And it is what it is I am not planning on throwing away what I have because I still love it and it is wasteful but I am trying to create more of a balance in that realm in my closet.
ESPECIALLY because a lot of the workout I do is hot sculpt and yoga where I am profusely sweating and detoxing and I think the fabrics I am wearing should be more supportive to that. Just intuitively in my body it feels wrong lol, so this has become something important to me.
So with that being said I have been experimenting with different brands and fabrics. The ones I have tried and liked are Mate the Label, Pact & Lezat. I linked all my favorites in my workout essentials.
I just read a great substack post on this from Claudia — “Low Tox Activeware Actually Worth Wearing” — I haven’t tried all of the ones she recommends but it was a great way to discover new brands I had not yet heard of!
4. Geometry Kitchen Towels
Okay so Geometry reached out to me to send me some tea towels and I became OBSESSED with them and ordered a million more. They are just so handy to have around the kitchen they are incredibly useful and even better they have the absolute cutest patterns.
“GLOWWITHELLA” works as a 35% off discount code.
5. Perfect Soft Boiled Egg
I am obsessed with a soft/medium boiled egg like any time of the day lol. Perfect breakfast, perfect snack, perfect snack plate add in or add on to lunch and dinner. It is just versatile and always makes me feel good and satisfied. For a softer on the scale I will usually do 4 eggs at a rolling boil for 7 minutes, for a little more medium on the scale I will do 10 minutes. & then immediately placed into an ice bath.
I also just got these really cute lil egg holders to serve them in.
6. Jar Upcycling Hack
I am a jar hoarder. If my food comes in a cute glass jar, I will be upcycling that jar to use for food storage or even better cute bevs.
BUT sometimes the sticky stickers on the jars can be a hassle so this is what I do:
Peel off as much of the sticker as you can
Fill jars with hot to boiling water (not so hot that it would crack)
Let sit for 10 minutes with hot water and peel off as much more of the sticker as you can
For any extra residue — create a paste with equal parts baking soda + neutral oil
Rub paste all over stubborn sticky parts, let sit for at least an hour, longer for more stubborn
Scrub off remaining residue with soap and hot water
Dishwash and enjoy!
7. Cherries on Ice
THE BEST SUMMER SNACK EVER. Like please just trust on this one. It keeps the cherries nice and cold in the sun, and also just looks so beautiful yet elevated. I also love crudite on ice too.
8. GUT GLOW
I can’t not shout out the best functional dark chocolate bar on my favorites list for this month!!! Seeing all of you try it makes my day every single day — the response has been amazing. I eat a couple of squares literally every single night on their own or on a snack plate if not as another dessert. It is my favorite lil nightcap with some tea.
9. Farm to People
I often get asked where I get my produce from in New York — and if it is not from a farmers market, it is from Farm to People. Farm to People kind of acts as a CSA but it sources from mostly local farmers + more non-local farmers and delivers to New York and Brooklyn. They have everything from amazing seasonal local produce to quality local dairy, pasture raised eggs and baked goods. They deliver super quickly and have great customer service it is so nice on a week where I am not able to make it to the farmers market to be able to order it delivered to my door. I believe that “glowwithella25” gives you a discount on your first order but lmk if that doesn’t work!
10. No Glasses Morning Walks
This has been my favorite new morning activity during the summer. Taking 15 minutes every morning to go outside and go for a walk before it gets too hot, and get some natural sunlight in my eyes. Whenever I do this it makes my entire day better. I am more energized, I sleep better at night, I feel more motivated overall. I am trying to get outside as much as possible during this time of the year, and this has been one of my favorite ways to do that!!! I write more about the importance on circadian health here — it’s truly changed my life:
Thank you for another amazing month of this community <3 Grateful for each and every one of you! Xo - Ella
I loveeee farm to people!!
Omg those scones!
