I have felt my anxiety at an all time high so I have decided to cut caffeine and to take social media off of my phone for a little break. The constant distraction and over stimulation becomes too much and I don't feel disciplined enough to have the app on my phone and not go on it so I completely remove it for a while and I have to tell you, I'm just 3 days in and I have felt my mind take a literal sigh and the clarity has started to come back. I just really feel so much better mentally when I take a full break from being connected. Thanks for the article and by the way your writing is great. Love reading your articles.
ahhh Julie that put a smile on my face!!! that makes me so happy you are feeling so much more clear. It is crazy the little shifts we can make to completely change our lives for the better. Super proud of you for committing to that, you inspire me
as someone with a newsletter here who’s constantly feeling the burden to put out writing on a consistent, cyclical schedule, your ideas here are so important. Especially as I feel there’s an expectation that every single thing I publish has to have some profound story or tidbit of information
The balance between relevancy as a creator but not losing sight of why you started writing in the first place is SO real. Taking a break from writing completely always helps me see things more clearly & avoid burnout
I love this Ella!! I have been tapping into creativity more lately, and it seems the quiet times are usually best for coming up with new ideas. It’s a great challenge and I plan to join you in it!
Yes! I completely agree. As a a long time writer, I have seen the difference. When I've been is busier periods of my life where I did not make space to think, my creativity lacked and my writing came much harder. When I make space for my brain to not think so hard (by doing the things you list here) my brain bubbles over with thoughts and ideas. Thanks for this post.
Yes writers block is so real and I feel it totally correlates with constant consumption. I am glad to hear that you see that difference too, let's be bored more together lol!
I love this so much! It’s so true & such a valuable lesson to learn to be okay with being bored without distractions 🧘♀️
Thank you Emily! Yesss :) A daily reminder
This is such a great reminder! I’ve realized life becomes richer the more I allow the silence to resonate though it without constant stimulation.
Yes yes yes <3 so much richer

As someone who wants to make social media my job, it’s hard to separate these 2. Any tips?
