Hellloooo friends & family! I am back at home and I missed you guys so much. France was an absolute dream. It was my first time there but most definitely will not be my last. THE FOOOOD. The PRODUCE. I am so inspired by everything I ate there.

But more importantly — the way the food made me feel. I never once had a stomach ache or felt icky after eating while in Europe. I was eating everything, trying everything, not holding back. Eating out most every day. Yet I did not feel gross at all??? There are a few theories I have for why this may be:

  1. The ingredients. The restaurants and bakeries in France are using REAL FOOD ingredients. Cooking in butter, baking their bread with flour water salt sometimes yeast, nothing with a laundry list of ingredients you cannot pronounce.

  2. Food quality + sourcing. There are a lot more regulations with food and ingredients in Europe than the US. Because of this, the food is more often most nutrient dense and better quality. They are also super transparent about where there produce is sourced, and a lot of it is locally!

  3. The passion + love. The chefs and bakers in France bake and cook because they love to. It’s their passion, they care about what they are making. This truly makes a difference.

  4. Walking. I was walking constantly in Europe, to the restaurant, after the restaurant. I think this made a huge difference in my digestion/well-being.

  5. Slow eating. No one is scarfing a meal down while jumping in the car to get somewhere, or eating while working at a desk. People have designated eating times, where the purpose is to enjoy a meal with no other distractions. Automatic rest & digest state!

  6. Less stress. I was on vacation, so overall I was less stressed than usual and that always makes a difference in health and digestion.

I believe it was a combination of all of these things, and I am definitely going to continue to try and continue all of them in my every day life as much as I can! Slowing down, cooking with love, walking more & quality ingredients. I hope you join me :)
