Happpy Sundayyyy beautiful people! I love Sundays. Although I will be spending all day traveling today. Thank god for my kindle. My fav reading is psychological thrillers and I just finished Never Lie by Frieda McFadden. It was a nice twist which is the best.
Recently got a kindle which I was against for the longest time because I love a physical book and turning pages but it just made more economic sense especially with traveling, and I am enjoying it so far. I love a book that keeps me on the edge of my seat. Plsss tell me your favs because I need new recs.
The Dominican Republic was incredible. The background literally looked like a green screen and the ocean was perfect. So warm I wanted to stay in the water all day.
We ate a ton of really delicious food, yummy drinks, and spent a lot of time in the sun - it was very relaxing. My drink of choice of the trip was an aperol spritz, and I also learned that I like shrimp. I thought I didn’t but after this trip I have found a liking for it so maybe some shrimp recipes to come? Fresh fruit was my best friend on this trip: tons of mango, papaya and fresh squeezed orange juice. I did get eaten alive by bugs (and have a theory that it is blood type related) but ended up buying some vanilla extract which helped repel the bugs and also soothe the bites. Definitely going to make some sort of holistic bug spray for next time.
Spending so much time with my feet in the grass and in the sand this week, I feel as we’ve progressed as a society - we’ve also slowly begun to lose touch with nature. I read something that really touched my heart last week, “We think of ourselves as “lucky” that we don’t have to grow our own food. The time spent tending the land and cultivating the earth could be better spent elsewhere, such as sitting in front of a television or computer.” I highly recommend you read the full caption HERE. But I feel this way everyday. I find myself craving peace with nature. Hand to earth connection. The sun on my face.
My intention this week is to spend time reconnecting with nature and the earth. In peace without outside distraction! I don’t have to be doing anything but just being present.
I spent the whole week in the sun, and I did get a little toasty. But I have never really been afraid of the sun. Why? Because whenever I am laying in the sun is when I feel the most healing, the most energized and the most at peace.
The sun is truly healing, and below is a guide on how to spend time in the sun and avoid burns, nourish your skin from the inside out & if you do get burnt…what to do about it.
