Woke up bright and early because there was a Pop Up Bagel Pop Up in LA and been dyyyinnggg to have their bagels so I picked up a big bag this morning. They were AMAZING. Freshly baked & warm.
I didn’t used to be a gal who wakes up and eats bagels at 7AM. WHAT WAS SHE THINKINNGGGG??? In all seriousness…I think one of the biggest mistakes that I made early on in my health journey was obsessing over health. Feeling the need to be perfect, thinking that otherwise I wouldn’t feel my best. This obsession over perfection was actually doing the exact opposite.
Health is no longer health when it becomes obsessive. Stress over being “perfect” is still STRESS - and it is going to do more damage than just doing the “unhealthy” thing.
When you log into social media or the internet, there are a million different “rules” when it comes to a healthy lifestyle. Don’t do this. Don’t do that. This will make you XYZ. This will heal you. SO MUCH NOISE! So much living in the extremes! On the other side, there is someone else saying the exact opposite.
Instead of spending time on living, I was spending money on trying to heal, spending time purposely not doing things that would’ve made me happy. I spent years on fad diets, lab testing, supplements and restriction. In this time I was stressed, anxious, depressed, and in pain constantly. I was so obsessed with healing, that I stopped truly living life. When LIVING IS HEALING!
When I started tuning out the noise, and instead focusing that energy on listening to my own body and tuning into how I feel, my life changed.
Even if you do the exact same thing as someone else, your results will be different. We are all different and subject to changes based on our lives, environment, actions…everything! By listening to my body instead of blindly following others, I was able to truly heal. I let go of what I couldn’t control and began to do things that made me happy, made me feel good, let go and ENJOY.
I don’t have “cheat days” because my life is full just living. I don’t feel the need to “cheat” because I allow myself freedom to do whatever I want when I want to. I am not in any way perfect, and achieving perfection for me made my health decline.
Instead of going to restaurants and not eating anything or worrying about how they prepare the food, I go to restaurants and order whatever I want, because I know that the act of being out with friends, present, laughing, and enjoying is where the true healing really lies.
There is a balance between using the resources we have to optimize our health and living our life to truly heal. But I believe without the pillars of health as the foundation, everything that follows will not be doing much.
Letting go. Going back to the basics. Tuning out the noise. Laughing more. Being present and grateful. Enjoying life. This is what healed me most. Because the point of good health is to use your time truly enjoying. I don’t want to look back and realize there was so much I didn’t do that would’ve made me so happy, because of fear.

R is for Reading
Health Reading: The Fear Cure by Lissa Rankin. This book goes into detail about how being afraid and fear can actually make us sick! Similar to what I was talking about above. I haven’t started reading yet, but I am really excited to dive in. If you guys want to join me in this reading, join the Group Chat so we can chat about it.
For Fun: A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sara J. Mass. OH MY GOSHHHH you guys!!!! Who would’ve thought I would be a Fantasy lover?? Not me. Not I. But here we are. I was influences to buy this series from Tiktok, everyone is talking about it. So I bought it blindly not knowing what it was even about. But I love it. The detail, the character development, it is so beautifully written. I am halfway through the first book and I don’t want it to end! It is such an amazing escape, which is exactly what I like from a for fun reading.
E is for Eating
Alllllll things sourdough! Been on a sourdough bender! Sourdough bread, baguettes, scones, granola, english muffins, banana bread….. so good. Always trying to find new ways to use my extra sourdough starter so I don’t have to discard it.
(D) adding bevs in here because beverage GURL
Of course… my matcha latte. BUT before my matcha latte I love starting with a warm beverage on an empty stomach. Recently has been warm water, lemon + shilajit. PLUS my shots shots shots shots shots shots: olive oil & lemon + ginger. And then my midday pick me up go to beverage has been sparkling spring water, lemon, cranberry juice and coconut water. So good and refreshing. ALSO taking advantage of the last leg of citrus season with fresh squeezed orange juice…. SO GOOD.
P is for Prioritizing
Reaallllyy been prioritizing my circadian rhythm health. Mostly:
Sunlight in the AM in my NAKED eye (aka not putting on glasses or contacts until I get sun in my eye)
Circadian rhythm friendly lights at night. I switched out all my fluorescent bulbs for Boncharge bulbs that have 3 different lights: one for day, softer day, and night. The night ones are so nice because it creates a warm and cozy vibe that allows me to begin to relax. I also love their red light bulbs for night as well. Makes an insane difference on my sleep health. (you can use ELLA15 as a discount)
O is for Obsessing Over
No night is right without a tea night cap. My favorite tea has been Tummy Tea by achilles. Makes my tummy feel amazing and I’ve noticed it’s great for my digestion. (glowwithella works as a discount)
R is for Recommending
Incorporating more walking. WALKING is incredible. It is so simple but it is truly healing. It is meditative, it is low impact exercise, and just so good for your body. I notice that when I am getting more steps, I feel so much better overall. I sleep better, I look better, I feel better, my digestion is better. It is also a wonderful excuse to get outside in nature, get some sunlight, or call and catch up with someone ya love.
T is for Treating
Recently started treating myself with acupuncture! I have never done it consistently before, and I am really excited to start. I will be doing it weekly with some cupping, mostly working on the pain in my upper back, and nervous system regulation. I will keep you updated on my journey and how I feel!!!!
Happy Sunday, grateful for you all.
Hope you have a beautiful rest of your weekend. Remember to do more things that make you happy, you deserve it. Talk to ya soon. Xo - Ella
