Gooood morning! I woke up in New York :) Here visiting one of my best friends. There is something about this city that is truly magical. Especially during the intro to wintertime and holidays.
One of my all time favorite things about it is the walking. You walk to grab coffee, meet a friend, get dinner, go on an errand, go to the gym, most everything is somewhat walkable.

Walking more is something that I noticeably see a difference in my health almost immediately. It makes me feel better mentally + physically. It is one of the most mediative forms of movement for me.
With so many of us now working from home, we are sedentary A LOT more than we used to be. It is not normal to be sitting at a desk for 8+ hours a day. Now adays its a privilege to get in movement throughout the day when working an office job, and that makes me so sad. Movement should be a PRIORITY and a commonplace necessity.
A sedentary lifestyle has been known for the longest time to cause health problems. There are days where I wake up in my apartment and sit down on my computer the whole day, never seeing the sunlight or moving my body, and I FEEL THAT.
The special thing about walking is it not only provides your body with movement, but it forces you to take deep breaths, it allows you to be surrounded in nature &/or getting sunlight, you aren’t able to be touching/looking at your phone while walking, you disconnect and reconnect with the present and reality.

One of my favorite things to do on walks is call a friend or family member to catch up. This is a priority I had coming into the beginning of this year and one that I will double down on going into 2024: Intentionally setting aside time for walking + connecting with the people that I love (I’d love for you to join me in this).
Along with walking, I wanted to share a shifts you can dd into your life today to better your health. These are tips that I implemented long ago that have become necessities in my daily because of how much they have truly benefitted my health and my life.
